Founder and Director - Caitlin Hughes
Graduating from the National Art School in 2000 with a BFA in Sculpture, Caitlin went on to complete a Master of Teaching in Visual Arts at the University of Sydney in 2002. She has taught at numerous institutions around NSW and in 2009 opened her school, Hughes Studio - School of Visual Art and Mosaic. Caitlin has been represented in numerous national and international exhibitions including the Waterhouse National Science Prize 2018 at the South Australian Museum and Sculpture at Scenic World 2018. She has been a finalist in the SAMA MAI Exhibition 2016 & 2017 as well as a finalist in the GoCM ‘Stories we Tell’ 2017. In 2018 Caitlin was a participant in the Third Symposium of Mosaic Art in Sardinia Italy with Maestro Giulio Menossi and the 2018 recipient of the SAMA Robin Brett Scholarship which enabled her to study with Verdiano Marzi at CMS in 2019. Caitlin a member of NAVA, AIMC, SAMA and Mosaic Association of Australia and NewZealand (MAANZ) where she holds the position of Education Officer and National Exhibitions Coordinator.

Tutor - Erin Pankratz
Alberta, Canada

Erin Pankratz has built a unique body of work that intertwines mosaic, drawing, weaving, and painting. Her work has been exhibited in Italy, France, Japan, Argentina, USA, and is in private collections in Canada, USA, Argentina, Brazil, and Italy. In 2011 she created a large mosaic mural for the Edmonton International Airport and is currently fabricating a large work  for the Edmonton light rail transit expansion.

Cetta Pilati works predominantly in marble mosaic exploring a fusion of traditional technique and timeless contemporary design with a key focus on the quiet forgotten simplicity and tradition of ancient approaches to art. Cetta has Bachelor of Fine Arts (Majoring in Sculpture) from RMIT University.

Helen Bodycomb is  a leading teacher of technique-based mosaics in Australia and abroad, She  is currently completing a PhD at La Trobe University. Previously Helen was an artist-in-residence at La Scuola di Mosaicisti del Friuli, in Spilimbergo Italy, mentored by Maestro Giulio Candussio.

Sophie Haythornthwaite
Painting Tutor

Sophie Haythornthwaite trained in Florence, Italy at Charles H Cecil Studios. She grinds her own pigments and prepares her own canvases, mediums and varnishes using traditional methods and recipes, and paints using the traditional methods and materials of the Italian, French and Dutch painters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
